Rueben M Altergott Obituary (1927 - 2013)

Rueben M. Altergott, 86, of Niles, MI, passed away at his home on Monday, April 8th, 2013. Rueben was born February 4th 1927 to Martin and Katherine Altergott in Chicago, IL. He was a U.S. Army veteran and a very avid hunter and fisherman. He was the State of Michigan champion in skeet shooting in his hay day. He had many beloved friends and most often had a PBR in hand. He was a long time barber with his own shop at Barron Lake, Niles, MI. He was preceded in death by his parents, and two brothers Fred and Larry. Surviving family includes two daughters; Adele (Scott) Banke, and Dawn (Chuck) Dunning both of Niles, one step-son; Dan Magro, two brothers; Curly and Elmer Altergott, and one sister; Rose (Francis) Norris, five grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held to honor Rueben's life on Friday, April 26, 2013 at 5:00 pm at the Eagles Lodge in Niles.
