Roland "Rollie" Carlson Obituary (1936

Roland (Rollie) Carlson, 84 of Buchanan MI passed away on Wednesday, March 10, 2021 in Sebring FL. Rollie was born on June 20, 1936 to the late Arthur and Marie Carlson. He was the oldest of 5 children. On January 14, 1956 he married the love of his life, Arlyne Norton. Rollie was a member of Local #1 Structural Ironworkers Union, Chicago IL. He was proud to have worked on many buildings and bridges in the City of Chicago. Most memorable were the Sears Tower, McCormick Place, John Hancock and the Cook County Jail. Rollie and his family spent the summers at their cottage on Clear Lake. He enjoyed boating, hunting, fishing and taking his girls water skiing. He would circle the lake with them in tow until they were tired out. He eventually moved his family to Buchanan in 1970 after renovation and winterizing their cottage. He loved his motorcycles, Honda Red Wings and Harley Davidsons. He took many road trips. The longest was a 5 week trip out west he and Arlyne took with several of their close friends. He rode until he couldn't ride anymore. He leaves behind his daughters, Kim Kamealoha and Kelly (Scott) Freeze; his grandchildren Larry (Melissa) Ferris, Jeremy (Genesia) Ferris, Natalie Ferris and Nicole Miller; also, his great-grandchildren Addisyn, Collette, Jaxon Ferris and Makayla Miller. Rollie loved spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was a coach for Indoor Floor Hockey, took them for motorcycle rides, and loved camping and fishing with them. They have many memories to cherish. Visitation will be held on Monday, March 15 from 6-8 EST at Hoven Funeral Home, 414 Front St, Buchanan, Michigan. A private burial service will be held on Tuesday.
