Robert "Bob" L. Chase Obituary (1929 - 2022)

Robert L. Chase, "Bob",92 of Niles, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by family on Tuesday, March 8, 2022. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Arrangements have been entrusted to Hoven Funeral Home, Buchanan. Online condolences may be made at www.hovenfunerals.com Bob was born to the late Hely and Audrey Chase on March 20, 1929 in Drumheller, Alberta, Canada. He attended high school in St. Joseph, MI, where he excelled in football and track. He joined the Merchant Marines at 16 years old, and had many interesting experiences. Bob married the love of his life, Bette (Navroth) on November 4, 1950. They shared 70 years together before Bette passed away on November 30, 2020. Bob worked for Clark Equipment Co. in international sales, where he traveled to Poland as a liaison, to oversee the building and production of a new plant. His travels also took him to Bruges, Belgium, and he and Bette often entertained guests from overseas. Bob is survived by his daughter Sharon (Tim) Hurd, granddaughter Alice (Billy) Hiniker, brother Don Chase, and many loving nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his son Robert Chase Jr. and daughter Christine Cloud. He had a great sense of humor, enjoyed traveling and golfing, and was a longtime member of Moose Lodge #449 Buchanan.
