Raymond Burnard Selby Obituary (1960 - 2015)

Raymond Burnard Selby 54, of Benton Harbor was called home on Saturday, Aug. 1, 2015 surrounded by his mother, aunt, and loved one, Sherrie, after a long battle with cancer. His work on Earth was complete. Ray was born Sept. 22, 1960 and was the eldest child born to Mary Nell Horne. He was born in Sikeston, MO and moved to Benton Harbor in 1965 and attended Benton Harbor Area Schools. After graduating, he enlisted in the Marines. After serving his country, he was granted an Honorable discharge. In his spare time he enjoyed spending time with his friends and family. He leaves to cherish his memory his sons, Jacques Selby of SC and Cody Selby of TX; daughters, Nahajee and Tahjae Selby of TX; devoted loving mother, Mary Nell Horne; sister, Unice Renee Horne; special aunt, Mary Ruth Davis; special friend, Sherrie Watson; and a host of uncles, aunts, and cousins. He is preceded in death by his grandmother, Willie Mae Jones. Funeral services will be at 12 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 8, 2015 at Tabernacle COGIC, 787 Superior St., Benton Harbor with Bishop Howard Thomas officiating. Visitation will begin at 11 a.m. Burial will be on Monday, Aug. 10, 2015 at Ft. Custer National Cemetery, Battle Creek. Arrangements have been entrusted to Hoven Funeral Home, Buchanan.
