Margie L. Skinner Obituary (1944

Margie Skinner was born unto parents, William Noah Hall and Mattie Lee Via, at Pawating Hospital, Niles, Michigan on December 9th, 1944. She had one older sister, Peggy French, and two younger brothers, William (Bill) and Robert (Bob) Hall. A graduate of Niles High School. Married Russell Skinner of Buchanan, Michigan in November of 1963 who preceded Margie in death in May 2002. A committed wife and mother, she raised three sons; Russell, Ralph and Ronnie. Ronnie drowned at Buchanan, Michigan in McCoy Creek in June,1981. Margie worked her way up as a kitchen supervisor/manager at Bry-Fern Nursing Home, nutritional services manager at (Unity) Visitors Hospital in Buchanan and retired as a director of foodservice at Brandywine Community Schools, Niles, Michigan. She served her community as a Cub Scout den mother. Buchanan Moose Teen Club leader. Margie was the proprietor of Pick-A-Dilly catering in Buchanan for 3 years. She joined Women of the Moose and worked through the ranks to become Senior Regent. Her hard work inspired her mother-in-law, Kate (Skinner) Nordin, to do the same! Margie was an avid reader, loved cooking, cared deeply for others especially children. She had a novel way of looking at life. She was wise counsel to many a friend. She was quirky, creative, quick witted, with a contagious smile and knew how to make people laugh. Margie was always quick to defend and lend caring attention to the underdogs. An imaginative, adventurous romantic at heart: She would have loved to travel more, meet new people, spend more time with her significant other; Paul Holaway, her children and grandchildren, brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews, and cousins. She desired to see more of this world but her journey here has come to an end. Margie Skinner died peacefully under hospice care at home surrounded by family and friends on Monday, October 17th. A celebration of life event will be held by the family at the Buchanan Moose Lodge from 2 PM to 6 PM on Saturday, December 10th. Arrangements have been entrusted to Hoven Funeral Home, Buchanan.
