Lydia Diane Jones Obituary (1954 - 2014)

On Nov. 11, 2014 God called one of his faithful servants, Lydia Diane Jones home. Her work on earth was done. Funeral Services will be held at 11 am on Friday, November 21, 2014 at Highland Avenue Seventh-Day Adventist Church, 2075 Highland Ave, Benton Harbor, MI 49022. Burial will follow at Crystal Springs Cemetery. Viewing will be one hour prior to the service from 10-11 am. Arrangements have been entrusted to Hoven Funeral Home of Buchanan. Online condolences may be made at www.hovenfunerals.com Lydia was born Sept. 15, 1954. She was the fourth child born to the late Nathaniel and Annie Woods Armstrong. She was born and raised in Benton Harbor, MI. Her education started at Edith Garrett SDA elementary through Jr. High graduating from Benton Harbor Sr. High, and later attending Lake Michigan College. Her hobbies were crafting flowers, cooking and her passion lending a hand where ever needed. She married Gerom Jones, to this union one son was born Terrence Geron Woods. Lydia worked as a guest assistant at Caretel Assisted Living and also at Benton Harbor Meijers groceries. Lydia loved the Lord, her church family, natural family and friends. She was a faithful servant at Highland Ave. Seventh Day Adventist Church. She held many positions through the years, including; choir, usher, hospitality coordinator, and soup kitchen director. She leaves to cherish her memory, son, Terrence Geron (Sereana Ray) Woods, Sr.; brothers, Nathanial (Juanita) Woods II, Jerry Lee (Cora) Woods, Fredrick (Coralynn) Woods, Sr.; sisters, Sally (Michael) Carr, Delores Woods-Jones; half-sisters, Lisa Phillips, Cindy Woods and Natalie Woods; grandchildren, Terrence Geron Woods, Jr. , Lia Woods, Terricka Pearl Woods, Lydia Diane Woods, Leila Ann Woods, and Tristan Eliron Woods; special friend, Benard, and devoted sister-in-law Mary "Mae Ruth" Davis.
