Herbert Monroe Williams Obituary (1926

Herbert Monroe Williams December 24 , 1926 - April 13, 2021 Herbert Williams of Niles, Michigan passed away Tuesday, April 13th. Herb was 94 years old. Herb was preceded in death by his father Herbert Williams, his mother Nanette Williams and his brother Lee Williams. Herbert is survived by his wife of 46 years, Nancy Lee Williams of Niles, Michigan, his brother Edwin Williams (wife Barbara) of Robins Illinois, daughter Renee Holmes of Romeoville, Illinois, his son Jerome Williams (wife Electra) of Fontana, California, and his stepdaughter Jackie Lynn Pugh of Niles, Michigan. Herb is also survived by 11 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. Herb lived a long and eventful life. Herb graduated from Blue Island High School in Illinois. He served as a real-estate salesman for 27 years which included selling commercial spots for J&E Marion and Company on NBC network. He served as a village trustee in Robins, Illinois. Herb also served as a judge magistrate in the 5th circuit court in Illinois and he sold furniture for WT grants company. He also managed a Burger Chef restaurant in Gary Indiana. Herb knew many people. He even became friends with the late Muhammad Ali and spent time with him over the years. He had the opportunity to meet Michael Jackson as a child and his brothers. Michael even came to his Burger Chef and would dance for him. Herb also had hobbies he enjoyed such as Jewelry making. He started out making spoon rings and later became good at making jewelry from twisted wire with tiger eye gemstones. Later in life he repaired watches. Herb expressed that out of all his accomplishments in life his greatest joy was when he dedicated his life as one of Jehovah's Witnesses on August 14th, 1974. Before his baptism he began associating with Jehovah's Witnesses in 1972 when he began studying the Bible with Earl Thomas. He also credits his Bible education to Ed Henderson and Joe Carpenter. Herb served Jehovah for 46 years and had the privilege of serving as a congregation overseer for several decades in the Niles Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses. Herb was known to all as a loving and kind brother. He was a peace maker and he reached out to encourage his brothers and sisters any time he could. Isaiah 54:13 states: ..."and all your sons will be taught by Jehovah, and the peace of your sons will be abundant." Herbert was loved by all who knew him. He had many spiritual son and daughters.
