Harris Charles Obituary (2014

Charles Denver Harris, 85, of Benton Harbor, MI passed away Friday, January 17, 2014, at his home. Charles was born January 22, 1928 to Columbus and Verda Harris in McHenry, KY. He served in the US Navy during WWII at sea. He loved to work on small appliances, cars and lawn mowers. Charles also loved watching racing and old Westerns, most of all he loved his pets that always kept him company. He is survived by four daughters; Sherry (Jack) Kelley- Engelhardt, Melody (Jim) Mexico, Janet Tarraf, and Charlene (Sam) Murphy, one stepson; Frank Turner, three sisters; Linda (Charles) Ratliff, Nora (Jerry) Zehner, and Carol (Mitch) Englehart, eleven grandchildren, and many great-grandchildren. Charles is preceded in death by his parents, three brothers; Bobby, Oscar, James, and sister Emagene. Cremation has taken place. A celebration of life will be held by the family at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 23, 2014 at Red Arrow General Baptist, 320 East Euclid, Benton Harbor, MI. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the family. Arrangements have been entrusted to Hoven Funeral Home, Buchanan.
