Gabe Crump Obituary (1932 - 2014)

Gabe Crump, Jr. 82, was called home with God on Friday, April 4, 2014. Gabe was born in Joestown, Miss., to the union of Gabe and Maggie Crump. Gabe moved to Buchanan, MI in the early 1950s where he was united in Holy Matrimony with Ms. Mamie Lou Warren in 1958. Gabe and Mamie were married for 47 wonderful years until her passing in 2005. Gabe retired from Clark's Equipment in Buchanan in 1984. Nothing slowed Gabe after retirement so he then later worked at Fabco in Buchanan and as a School Crossing Guard with the Buchanan Community Schools. In his spare time Gabe loved to fish, go to the wrestling matches, barbeque, and spend time with his family and friends. Left to cherish his memory are two daughters, Annette Crump and Lora (David) Smith of South Bend; two sons, Ray Crump and Gregory Crump of Buchanan; four sisters, Mamie Hall of Niles, Mary Swan of Covert, MI, Geola Lewis of Buchanan, and Maggie Radford of Colorado Springs; two brothers, George Crump and Jonah (Vilma) Crump of Dowagiac, MI; two sisters-in-law, Ella Mae (Robert) Shelby of Benton Harbor, and Verneather Green of Augusta, GA; four brothers-in-law, Richard (Dorothy Fae) Warren and Willie Sam Warren of Buchanan, Vervin (Sharon) Warren of South Haven, MI, and Jerry (Frieda) Warren of Benton Harbor, MI.Gabe also leaves to cherish 10 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren, a special nephew, Mike Lewis, and a host of loving nieces, nephews, and cousins. Gabe's wife of 47 years, Mamie, his brother, Garland, and his sister, Gerothy, all preceded him in death. Gabe's family and friends will truly miss his backyard barbeques and his friendly spirit.
