Carlos Don "Sis" Hoffner Obituary (1943 - 2016)

Carlos Don "Sis" (Mabry) Hoffner, long time resident of Berrien Springs, wife of Jerry Hoffner, passed from this life into the next early Friday morning, April 22, at the age of 72, after a long battle with cancer. "Sis," as she was known by family and friends, was born in Doniphan, Missouri on July 5, 1943. She was a Buchanan High School graduate. She worked at National Standard, retiring from there when they closed their Niles operation. She was also a truck driver, team driving with her husband, Jerry Hoffner, moving Broadway shows across the nation. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Berrien Springs, Michigan, where her husband currently serves as Deacon. She was known as a woman who said what she meant and meant what she said. She had a profound impact on the lives of her family and friends. She will always be deeply loved and missed by her family who has comfort knowing she is now in heaven and no longer suffering. She was preceded in death by her parents, Carlos Carew and Juanita (Archer) Mabry. She is survived by brothers, Louis Wayne (Suzanne) Mabry, Donald Carl (Don) Mabry, J.T. Mabry of Berrien Springs, and Patricia Ann (David) Hirsch, of Niles, Michigan; sons, Terry Lynn (Kristee) Hoffner of Fort Wayne, Indiana;and Johnny Carew (Joanne) Hoffner of Beaver Dam, Wisconsin; and a daughter, Susan Renee (Tom) Weber of Mishawaka, Indiana; grandchildren Hayden Alexander, Laney Alexander, and Baylor Hoffner of Fort Wayne, Indiana; Skylar, Jersey, Wriley, and Cougar Hoffner of Beaver Dam, Wisconsin; and Troy and Bridget Weber of Mishawaka, Indiana. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. There will be a Celebration of Life service for Sis on Friday, May 6 at 6:00 pm at the First Baptist Church in Berrien Springs, Michigan. There will be a dinner following the service for time to fellowship with her family & friends. In lieu of flowers, monetary gifts can be sent c/o First Baptist Church at 214 N.
