Barry Duane Davis Sr. Obituary (1954 - 2019)

Barry Duane Davis Sr., of South Bend, IN was born on December 10, 1954 to Eddie and Leona Davis at Pawating Hospital. Barry confessed his faith at an early age and was raised in Buchanan, MI by his parents alongside his siblings. He attended and graduated from Buchanan High School in 1972. He was employed by Hoosier Tank and enjoyed working there for 14 long years. For the last year Barry was enjoying retirement to the fullest, spending all his time with his family and friends. On April 6, 2019, Barry was joined in marriage by the woman he loved, Janet Davis, at Christ Temple Apostolic, where they attended, loved being together and were surrounded by all who love them. Barry loved his family! Loved his friends, and had a heart of gold. He enjoyed watching sports, like most men, always dressed to the T, matching head to toe, pants creased with his matching hat. He loved to take his wife to Chicago to enjoy good food, good shopping and all around good times. Barry enjoyed working in the yard, around the house and any time spent was quality time spent. Barry was an easy person to talk to; positive, kind and caring. He always was joking around and making someone smile. His beautiful bright smile one could never forget. He loved his church! He loved the men's group! He was PROUD! In 2017 he was re-baptized and it was life changing. Barry made many good memories and left a lasting impression and so many will miss him dearly. Barry was a testimony. He was truly a blessing to all he came in contact with! On October 31, 2019, Barry received a call from heaven and he answered. The Lord said "Thy good and faithful servant, well done. Put on your long white robe, your shouting shoes, and go through the pearly gates of Heaven, walk the streets of gold and rejoice with Jesus." Barry leaves behind, to always cherish his memory, his loving wife, Janet Davis; his children, Barry Brinkley of California, Christopher (Jane) Brinkley of Niles, Tessa Davis, Demitrie Davis, both of South Bend; sisters, Sherri Davis-Mooty of Buchanan, Deborah of California; brothers, Ricky Davis of Atlanta, Shawn Davis of Kalamazoo, Richard (Regina) Davis of Dowagiac; grandchildren, Christalyn, Mariyah, Christopher Jr., Joshua, Jeremiah, Makhiya, KaJhen and baby Tessa all of South Bend; 1st great-grandson, Jaylen Jr; nieces, Nakeeva, Quashawn, Lamiya, Tyla; nephews, Frederick, Richard Jr., Jamarion; and special friend, more like a brother, Mark Charles. He is preceded in death by his father, Eddie Davis and brother in-law, Maurice Mooty. Funeral service for Barry will be held at 11 am of Saturday, November 9, 2019 at Christ Temple Apostolic, 2307 Elwood Ave, South Bend, IN 46628. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the Church. A private family burial will take place at Oak Ridge Cemetery. Arrangements have been entrusted to Hoven Funeral Home, Buchanan.
